GEG has incorporated the “Bildungszentrum Polizei NRW” (the police training centre for the state of North Rhine-Westphalia) into “GEG Public Infrastructure I”, a special fund it manages, for the long term. The area is located in direct proximity to the Neuss marina and the “Rheinpark” along the banks of the river Rhine. The object is leased to the state of North Rhine-Westphalia under a long-term contract and is used as a training and education centre for the police authorities.
The training centre was completely modernised in 2018/2019; it consists of twelve one-storey buildings housing a great variety of training facilities and lecture rooms, featuring state-of-the-art technology plus a gymnasium and a canteen. The location is readily accessible by car or public transport, and all training participants can fully focus on their tasks thanks to the quiet surroundings, comprising a residential neighbourhood and the water and park areas close by. Remarkable: this location was attractive already 2,000 years ago – underneath the training centre, archaeologists discovered “Castrum Novaesium”, an ancient camp dating back to Roman times.
